Our gift was much appreciated and we will never forget him.

Day 6 - Kong Island and surrounds

After dinner on day 5 we had been accosted on thh way back from the markets by a bar guy who assured us that he would show the champions league game between Liverpool and Barcelona at 2.45pm, so we went down to his bar only the find he was just closig up. On the way we ran into two 'fighting' cats. the fight seemed to be mental, as they rested their heads together adn constantly made this 'harroooooow' like noise. Ask walshy for the video - it is gold. this made the trip down to the pub worthwhile.

Nevertheless , we were able to watch it at our hostel after we showed the girls how electricity works. Safe to say - LIVERPOOL RULE!!! 2-1 victors at barcelona - can't complain.

During the day we went to kong island. It probably took about an hour or so to get there on a largish boat that smoothly cut through the water. the entry point in to hong island was a nice lagoon area which was pretty picuresque, although the water was not as clear as some we were to see at other islands.

We kayaked 1st. Although we didnt get to kayak up any caves, which for some reason we all expected, we did get to go all the way around the island and including kayaking up into a lagoon for a swim for a while. The kayaking was good fun. We had team 'same same', consisting of Lucy and I, and team 'but different', which was Matt and AJ. the part that was different was probably their slow pace...

After the kayaking we got to 'snorkel' around the original lagoon. there some small schools of fish but the water wasn't very clear so you cuoldnt see that far and it was largely dissapointing. neverthless, just being in the water is great in thailand!

In short, most of us got burnt - AJ just stayed the same colour. we crashed pretty early cause of all the burn. See picture.

Day 5 - Down in Krabi

Have decided to come and update to today (27th of something isnt it?). Bit lazy of us but weve been sitting on a beach downing cocktails and pizza so i dun think we can be blamed

I figure that these post write-ups will probably be a tad brief.

Anyway, we woke up late because we had been up on the roof of the hostel til late. Nick and i decided we would try sleep on the hostel roof which has a view of this

We got a bt sick of it mostly I guess because we sobered up but also cos the mozzies used us as their personal food-bank. The roof has a great view over the town and has a supposed bar but nobody ever went up there.

In the morning we woke up late and decided to splash out on breakfast for teh first time - downstairs had a gourmet 100 Baht (4 bucks) for allyoucaneat but when we paid for it we realised that it was cheap not because this country is cheap but because to eat even 4 bucks worth would have caused us to throw up enough to make a bulimic think we were gross.

Oh yeah - the thais have a weird sense of what an orange is. So OJ is completely off the agenda unless you get some imported from a supermarket.

After we had the brekkie we walked down to the local travel agents to negotiate our plans for the next few days. We walked in, I broke the guy's ashtray and we walked out with a few days travel with tours and a free packet of chips/sandwiches. We had spent most of the morning doing this and hadn't yet since landing seen a beach yet so we went off to rent some mopeds. We walked in and saw some bloke with a huge gash on his leg and half a foot so we rented a car =) ended up with this manual jeep so we all crammed in and went off to samesamebutdifferent. We were a bit tentative about getting on the road at all cos the drivers here are crazy and play a continual game of darwinist chicken. I was confident we could make a few Thai pancakes along the way

The girls jumped in the back and we caned it down the roads. Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that I didn't have a license on me because I'd lost it in Aus and nobody else could drive manual. So we were ilegally driving in a country with a better than average chance of crashing - hey parents! =)

We got to the beach and it was amazing - great to actually cool down as well - also nice to see at least one hot presumably swedish tourist.

Had a swim in the water which was knee deep for about 100m - all the way out to the closest island you can see! We had lunch there as well (pad thai of course), and drove off home.

Perhaps may go through Malaysia on the way home but we'll see how Thai Airways'll take it.

After we dropped the car back we saw that there was the Champions League game Liverpool v Barca! WIll definitely wake up to see that! Is on at a Western-themed bar down the road so we'll get to sleep early to watch that!

Still haven't heard from Josh!!

Choke yourself then

It really doesn't bother me if you choke yourself... after all - you eating pad thai 4 nights in a row is really a bit much for the palate. The juicy, flavoursome noodles deserve a better use...

Nick - aka 'Don'.

Day 4 eveing

The post before is nick

Just cos we are sharing a double bed tongith he has put a few shots in my drink & thinks he's gonna get some action. actually maybe if he does that whole rocky thing

The dinner was BS - it took far too long

AJ had a weird issue with us crashing her 'pee spot' - chased her round for a while - as I have said before she is 'too cool ' for this blog.

I just think that she has trouble peeing under pressure. I guess it didn't help that we wanted to hug & tapew her whilst she did it.

I also thingk that John Howard's stance on neo-conservative Environmental issues re: Tasmanin rainforest conservation as very pre-conversationalist & need evaluation in the current politicval context. Economic conse3rvatism is outdated in a post-neo but resolute and resurgent Leninist general economist consensus but worthwhile nonetheless.

Please don't stop reading this crap just because we got drunk on Krabi tonight.

Don if you post after me I will choke myself on Pad Thai.

Day 4 - Bangkok to Krabi - With Nick, but no Josh

Day four began a little too early... perhaps because a certian someone decided to set the thermostat on the air conditioner at a ridiculously hot 28 degrees. We could have had a cruisy night at a temperate sydney climate but instead our 'air conditioner' was probably raising the temperature for us... made for a sweaty, long night... especially with a bunch of americans leaving our dorm at 6am ( i assume walshy is talking about last night).

So, after little sleep we attacked the day with much ferociousness (does this sound drunk - cause i am). We eventually had an 'american reakfast' involving bacon, egg, 'orange' juice (which tasted mroe likea combination of mandarin and a bunch of chemicals) and some fried spam. Delicious...

We then decided to cab it (a very inexpensive pastime in thaland) to the nearest 'phalus' monument (the ladies were getting very excited). It was a very entertaining cab ride where the cabby elaborated on his few english phrases. If something was similar it was 'same same'. He also loved the word 'finish', although i dont think he knew what it meant.
Anyway.... after this cab ride we eventually made it to an expensive hotel where we pretended to be clients for a while and eventually were directed to a very remote little corner of the establishment which happened to have a 'shrine' amongst the bushes. This shrine contained many a 'phalus', such that walshy was very embarrased... he really couldn't compete withthe 3m long one - frankly i dont blame him...one even had emu egg sized balls.

We next hit the 'grand palace' and surrounding monuments/buddhas. I think this is where the king, his wife and extended family live, although it looked more like a place a worship than a place of living to me. We took many a tourist photo at these temples and even sat and worshipped the buddha for a while...(my dislocated shoulder struggled in these positions of worship). Walshy and I had to hire long pants so as to display our respect for the buddha and the king's regime (i assume) otherwise we wouldn't have been allowed entry.

We then (eventually) were able to convince a cabby to drive us back to our hostel to pick up our bags and then on to the airport. The two trips probably took about 90 mins and comprised 30 or more kilometres, but only cost us the equivalent of 5 bucks each. Such a tough life here in thaland. So we made it to the airport in time to catch our flight (we were a bit worried we weren't going to make it for a while) and then sought some lunch (it was 4pm). Amazingly, at a newly established airport, we were unable to find any food except for a 'casual restaurent' which involved sitting down for an extensive period of time.... so we ended up lunching on jatz, crisps and oreos from a newsagent... a backpapers dream.

The flight on 'nok' air - maybe nok means beak - was uneventful.... we got to Krabi, the linking point to ko phi phi and other islands.

Lucy decided to have a quiet night as Walshy, AJ and I went down to the local market. It took them about 75 mins to serve us dinner (during which we have some very entertaining and illumionating conversations...(whatever that means). We managed to get a few free beers due to their lack of efficient service. I think they confused our order with another table and completely forgot about us!! So now here we are... at a local internet cafe writing about the day's events... if only we had the dedication to do this every day... i doubt this is going to happen.

Post blogging, Walshy and I decided it would be a great idea to sleep on the roof. I was'nt too uncomfortable, but in the end it was probably a good idea to head inside - the mosquitoes would have given us hell.

My interpretation of the 3rd day

I spent soooooo long posting up those photos & Luce stole the thunder! argh!Well I guess 'what she said' - but was so much more!

She had the day listed in reverse. We took a train & water-taxi to the temple to see some boring things.. ( last photo). We saw heaps of derelict houses along the way (2nd last photo) - on a nice ride tho - then had lunch (weird pad thai btw - never eat there - doesn't deserve a 'hat').

That's the 3rd last photo. Was next to the river so we thought we'd eat there. Was really weird pad thai tho! We looked around the souveneir shop & found nothign interesting - actually i saw chopsticks but couldn't afford them.We were at Wat Po (Apparently gives you 'good luck & prosperity) and I grabbed aphoto of AJ in front of these tower things.

It was me who came up with the name 'hannibal dog' btw! I chased him for 30m to get the photo!!!!!

But yeah afterward we all went out at night after Dowse arrived at the hostel @ 6 to Kao Sahn Rd. To be honest it was disappointing relative to what we4 had experienced otherwise. Very few clubs/bars & just the same as all other bangkok. We stayed a while in this Irish Bar & Nick & I went home to play some football in the street with Gustav (for those in the know).

Little-did-we-know that AJ came in to our room & turned the thermos up to 28C from 25C! We had very little sleep that night esp with the Americans we were in the room with going in & out all the time (we think they are g@y).We woke up & the day turned to # 4. Nick wants to solely write about it which is fine - will be interesting to see what was written when we are all sober =) )

3 day - tried to find Josh & seeing the sights

For some reason the pictures are backwards and I'm not computer savvy enough to figure out how to change it- I'll let matt do that tomorrow. So read from the bottom up...

AJ tried to teach us to Salsa, but I was a bit drunk at this stage and Dowsley...well he's a boy so dancing isn't really his forte- though he claims he was bad because she was leading....

This disgusting looking concotion is the reason I wasn't able to learn how to salsa! Who sells alcohol in a bucket?! Or really who drinks alcohol from a bucket?!

Dowsley arrived at about six, thought still no sign of Josh! After a quick dinner at the street stalls, we visited Khao San Rd- the apparent mecca for tourists out for a big night in thailand. Odd place- barely any Asian people but plenty of english blokes! After a night out I was laughin hysterically on the ground and a motorbike almost ran me over. Matt whispered under his breath but unfortunately the driver understood english and was ready for a fight. Most thai guys matt would be able to take on....but this guy was huge and he was lucky to talk his way out of it!

This is what a 3L beer tower and a bucket of alcohol will do!! Spent the night in an Irish pub on Khao San Rd listening to a thai band do covers of american songs.

"Hannibal" dog at Wat Arun.....Matt chased after him to get a photo- "he can't bite me with that thing on anyway!"
On the ferry on the way to Wat Arun, seen in the background. We met a Monk on the ferry on the way there. Very cute little man who said he had been a monk for 10 years. AJ was also followed by some thai law student who thought she was thai too....
At Wat Pho....with AJ looking very comtemplative
Dropping coins into bowls at Wat Pho. It's meant to bring you luck and prosperity.....here's me thinking happy thoughts :)
The giant reclining Buddha in Wat Pho. 42m long!! Oddly enough- people come here to pray while a whole bunch of tourists wander around taking photos...
Having lunch before visiting Wat Pho. AJ being a devil....
Having lunch on the river before seeing Wat Pho. Wat Arun is in the background.
One of the billion shanty houses on the edge of the river. The standard of living for some people in thailand is so poor- marked even more by the fact that a few feet down from shanty houses like this are hotels like the shangri-la!
On the ferry on the way to Wat Pho

Leaving tomorrow to fly down to Krabi- looking forward to getting out of the pollution!

Luce

The evening of the 2nd day - where art thou Josh?

We waited for like 3 hours for Josh! (shiut up AJ just cos you couldn't pee behind a bush in Krabi - Nick your penis is shrimp size like mine so you can't talk - yes shrimp is okay)

sat out on the road and sang 'sound of music' and 'aladdin' - little mermaid for those who are not endowed - and she is grateful as that would be weird. yes i am drunk whilst typing this...

By the way ignore whatever AJ & Nickl write because a) they are undeducated b) they are shrimp & b) had no idea that Lucy had edited my picture post before.

AJ is very shrimp. IN fact , she was an extra in the Forrest Gump Shrimp Farmer when that disabled guy was hangin off the ropes in the storm. she brought home the shrimp. Mayube it's cos she's black.

WHich btrings me to the production of pie. of is it pi? 3.14 or 22/7. Iwould like > 3 pies. That is equation.

firstly i would like to have a cherry pie. that is because cherry is a very small fruit.

secondly i would like a blueberry pie. that is because this fruit is generally underrated in economiews of scale sense.

lastly i would like an apple pie as i am a traditionalist. Like the movie also. AJ's number is 8. Nick & mine's 4.

Anyway, back tyo what we did on tyhe second day. We were all quite worried about Josh but I convinced the rest of teh grtoup (after saving a baby & showing off my guns) to go about our trip as cos Josh can be a bit hopeless sometimes - sorry Josh but i am drunk & you can be

we has spent the day out at the Chanukah markets in the northern districts of Bangkok (taxi as usual) - and lucy, as she has commented, noted that I bought alot of stuff. Yes i did, but it was good stuff. presents for a few people & a bag ofr myself. i need a bag. hear me roar.

Anyway, this photo is of us 3 having food at some random place in the markets. AJ bought a good bargain meal, my fish was gross & lucy had a nice meal. I had a good time buyign heaps of stuff for people at home. everyone else is selfish!

After the market we (i.e. AJ cos she was tired) decided to go home. So we did & waited for Josh for a few hours (waiting at the hostel from 6pm onwards - when he should have arrived) - got drunk & sang songs as i mentioned before - afterwards we decided to go to some markets AJ suggested in the east of Bangkok Below is a photo of Lucy & I in front of some facade & teh ferris wheel.. Actually, first off is AJ eating - we all ate there - I had Pad Thai (which was awesome btw) and the others had soemthing else =) but we all had a great meal & here is AJ giving us a grin-a-millions;

After we had dinner we saw the Ferris wheel & decided to have aride on it (btw side-note - AJ thinks she is too good for the blog). Was heaps of fun tho! Quite high =)

But yeah here's the photo of Lucy & I in-front of the ferris wheel & the facade =)

We jumped on the wheel;

Afterwards we did a bit of shopping (actually I DID A BIT OF SHOPPING) - and saw a bit of Thai karaoke which was lame. We weren't there for too long after which we negotiated a tuk-tuk to take us home - bastard told us 100 Baht to Sukhumvit & then gave us on to his mate on a tuk-tuik for 120! We told him to shove it & then somehow got a deal for 100 bacj home. I would poswt the video but it's too large.

We got home & pretty much went to sleep cops we were tired & a bit sick of the fact that Josh was AWOL.

Glad to be alive after the tuk-tuck ride (waas nuts) - but also glad to not have a hug enight after my bday at COliseum near the hostel.

Went to saleep wonderintg where Josh was. So will edit this cos i am drunk

I beg to differ you lesbian savage

The lady boy show (I do emphasise the word 'lady' & should be treated as such) should be fun - maybe we can see a ping-pong show too!

If we do the latter I'm taking racquet to fire in some backhand winners off their serves

not sure if luce & i play mixed doubles whether the ladies qualify for which..

oh yeah - i did the dumbest thing - locked AJ's camera outside the locker for about 20 mins until she found it... so glad it was still there! Think I owe her one...

Will be good when Josh gets here tonight to we can man up the place for when we go see the ladyboys

Walshie

day 2 - matt's turn at gayness....

hey all,

matt took a video of us crossing the street today....he's like one of thos tourists who take photos of everything...dinner, dinner before it's eaten, dinner after it's eaten...

went to the markets today where matt bought up a storm.....and aj bartered up a storm....matt had some trouble with the idea of bartering- offering 60BH for something that cost 50!

tried to buy alcohol but they only sell it after 5! maybe it's a sign we're alcos wanting beer in the afternoon....

tonight we're waiting for josh and then going to the lady boy show- matt insisted :) aj wants to get drunk first b/c her indonesian/japanese heritage is making her feel guilty for seeing women with penises :)

off to the sunbath on the roof.......

Actual First Day in aftermath of lesbianism

We landed here at about 4:30pm into the new Bangkok airport (BKK or whatever).

Had some crappy Bollywood film bout spices & magic but some awesome food!

Took advantage of the free alcohol - AJ drank a shot of cognac but I didn't & luce was asleep or something... I felt sick at this stage... Much of food had weird gelatinous film on it but we ate it anyway

Pretty quick flight & only like 9 hours long

Got through customs pretty easily & then went straight off to our hostel - nice place - have photos but left the cord back in Sydney - AJ has a cord but she's lazy & won't get it - actually she's just said that she is cynical about the blog & about how many ppl will read this - i told her to get stuffed - 'this blog is on the edge. i see why ppl will come to this. unless they live in a hole in australia. get off the internet & get a life' - what a b1tch i tell ya! It's only cos Luce didn't want to put out

thanks AJ

But yeah our hostel has air con etc so is pretty good tho smells like sausages - german frankfurts - you have to put toilet paper in a bin after you've used it so maybe that adds to it

We went out into the main part of Bangkok & saw a few Chinese New Year Dragon Shows... had dinner for like $6 - entree, main & 630ml Thai Beer! bargain! Lucy has Special K. No she didn't she had sweet & sour noodles =)

Then went to China Town & saw this human tower thing (like they have in Sth America) - have a photo of it, along with other things but yeah don't have the cord

Then ended up in the gay quarter (whoops, my mistake) & I got a photo of a semi-naked Matej handed to me (no joke) - took a photo of that arear and then had a drink at a sports bar to watch the football!

Nick - we get to see the EPL 4 hours earlier!!!

Anyway, just got back - still need to figure out how to upload photos but yeah landed safe & having a great time - bit westernised so doesn't totally feel like Thailand

"Not used to seeing so many asian people on the street" - lucy

Thanks ya racist

First Day

AJ made out with Lucy
